During their official visit to the Damietta governorate, Dr. Manal Awad,
Governor of Damietta, Ambassador Hazem Fahmy, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs
for American Affairs, and Ambassador Ashraf Mounir, Deputy Assistant Minister
of Foreign Affairs for Latin American Affairs, conducted an inspection tour at
Misr Fertilizer Production Company (MOPCO) in the duty-free zone.
The tour was attended by a delegation of accredited American ambassadors in
Cairo, representing several republican ambassadors, such as those from
Guatemala, Panama, Venezuela, Canada, Chile, Ecuador, Cuba, Brazil, Mexico, the
Dominican Republic, Paraguay, Bolivia, Uruguay, and Argentina, in addition to
representatives from the Ministry of Petroleum. They were greeted by Eng.
Ibrahim Mekky, Chairman of the holding company of Petrochemicals, and Eng.
Ahmed Mahmoud, Chairman and Managing Director of MOPCO.
The visit included a meeting held at the company’s headquarters to discuss
the factory's current and future visions and to review its achievements as the
largest urea producer in Egypt, as well as the company’s role in community
engagement to achieve social development in Damietta Governorate. The
delegation conducted a tour inside the factory to observe the green hydrogen
project and production lines, in addition to safety, occupational health
procedures, and quality standards implemented within the factory.
